This next batch (3rd ) is of ten pieces, five are
lidded jars again, four of them are a rounded form with one being straight
sided. The other five pieces are exploring texture on the surface, of three of
them and the last two are thrown then trimmed and using a rubber kidney to
distort and manipulate the shape to further enhance and create another form, changing
it from it first original shape.

So it’s been a while, about a month now and I’ve been
playing with more clay!
Here is the second batch I’ve created taken from the first
batch and further developed, mostly using a rounded form refined with a bit of
turning and then added thickened joining slip (clay and water) applied to the
surface, then using my finger to drag through the surface of the slip.

another play with clay was the following vessels with added texture to the outside, kinda adding and developing to my textured bowls/plates. you might remember back a couple of months I was making vessels well continued on with that and kept some and completed with glazes (pic of two on shelf) although they look better in real life, definitely not a photographer!

these following images are of vessels with textures added to the outside, hoping to develop these further in the next couple of weeks and get some fired with different glazes on them!
keep a look out for 'em!
Hey been a while since I posted but have been having a play with clay these are kinda a homage to Duncan Ayscough (http://www.ayscoughceramics.co.uk/) who was the first every person to teach me to throw (on the wheel). He taught me at CCTA Jobswell (now Coleg Sir a Gar) and later when I did my full degree at Howard Gardens (UWIC) in Cardiff.
Such an amazing throwner/maker with an amazing ability to teach and make you consider and develop.
For everything you helped me achieve then and now, thanks again!

playing with ugly teapots ideas!
Here's a small batch of thrown forms with extruded additions that I've been playing with. They give an interesting reference to functional (or lack off!) teapots as they have no lids of such and they're spouts can not function by having no holes cut allowing liquid to travel from the body through to the spout.

Playing with some teapot ideas!
Hello again ! here's some pics of some teapot ideas I've been thinking about, these were taken at the same time as the last post but have been cleaning and had no time or just been lazy anyway ......................
what you think???

was playing with the ideas of having a corrugated base on these, so the on the furthest left was thrown normally then when it had firmed up it was dropped on a plaster mold to give the shape but in doing so has distorted the shape but is still interesting.
the middle and right were thrown as a bowl cut with a cheese cutter then separate slabs were press molded and attached which took longer than expected then spouts were thrown for the left one and a pulled handle. middle had an extruded spout and pulled handle. the right one was using an extruded spout and handle
All can be developed further especially.

detail from far left teapot base especially like the movement in the base

. this is the questionable functional teapot which as two spouts and two lids but only one of each actually works. Can you guess which ones?

looking at it I don't really like the base join, as I used the larger corrugated mold to pressmold where as the others I used the smaller one which worked better.
really this is the first playful experiment with this idea so still lots of possibilities
